Travel Tips

Travel tips and tricks from travel experts and fellow travelers like you.

-Be fully packed 2 days before your trip. Save yourself the stress and anxiety so you can have a stress free travel day.

-Pack a good pair of compression socks for long haul flights to avoid swelling.

-Learn some common greetings in the language of the country you’re visiting.

-Consider traveling like going to someone else’s home, respect their house rules and have an open mind. You’ll have more fun.

-If you’re connecting through London Heathrow (LHR) make sure your connecting time is at least 3 hrs apart.

-Always carry your most important piece of clothing in your carry-on.

-Even if you’re traveling solo, book a room with 2 beds. One to sleep on/keep clean, and one to stretch out across after an exhausting day or excursion.

-Don’t let the expectation of perfection ruin an amazing trip. Enjoy everything for what it is and take in every piece of your unique adventure.

-Have all your apps updated before departure, bank, credit card, translator, …

-Get out of the resorts and tap in with the local community. Go to a local coffee shop or food stall.

-You need both tsa pre-check AND clear to experience the benefits of either one.

-Put your phone down and actually enjoy where you are. Not everything needs to be for social media.

-Understand the difference between “unfamiliar” and “unsafe” and act accordingly. Go everywhere you want in this world, just be smart like you are at home.

-If you travel a lot, getting a travel credit card (with a high annual fee) is worth it.

-If you are a single female traveler, avoid night arrivals if possible. It avoids the uncomfortableness of being alone in an Uber or Taxi late at night, and if you’re staying in an AirBnb, it might be difficult to contact the host.

-Travel insurance!!!

-When booking flights, choose the ones with longer layover times. You’ll either get a bonus destination or time to relax and not run through the airport to catch connecting flights.

-Find out what kind of adapter you’ll need to charge your phone.

-Have a good quality water bottle to keep your water cold throughout your day.

-Neck pillow, blanket and/or sweater are essential.

-Respect the locals wherever you go.

-Don’t forget your passport.

-Check public transportation options in your destination and save some money on ride shares or uber.

-Vacuum sealed bags save a lot of space.

-Roll your clothes when packing.

-Pack snacks for long flights.

-Locate the US embassy when traveling to other countries. Register your trip before hand.

-Take a first aid kit, tums/pepto, benadryl, pain/fever reliever and cold medicine.

-Look into local festivals and discounts days before your trip.

-If you are traveling with a drone to film content, please do your research on drone laws before you go. Every country has different laws.

-Always pay for the upgrade.

-AIRTAGS in everything!!!

-Pack comfortable shoes.

-Check the upcoming weather for your destination and pack accordingly.

-Keep a change of clothes in your carry on in case the airline loses your luggage.

-You can bring 1 unopened 750ml bottle of wine per adult on a Royal Caribbean cruise. They will chill it, uncork it, and serve it to you with your dinner if you ask.

-Book a pre-cruise night if you’re flying in to your port. Plan to be within driving distance of your port of departure at least 24 hours before your ship leaves. Shit happens and the ship waits for no one.

-If you’re a first responder, military personnel, or a government employee don’t be shy about asking for special rates. Save some $$$.

-If traveling with small children, always bring extra clothes in your carry-on, and bring a homemade hot meal in a small foil container and they’ll heat it up for you.

-Start creating a packing list months before your actual trip that way you have time to think of everything you’ll need.

-Clean your house before leaving for any trip. It’s nice to come back to a clean home. Helps with post travel blues.
